The ‘Hero of Prado’ Speaks Out Against Government on National TV

Protesters shout, "This are our weapons!", showing to armed police their empty hands

“Dammed be the hour where I affiliated myself to PP and voted in this government”, this were the words that Alberto casillas, known has the ‘Hero of Prado’, started his TV interview. He was assaulted yesterday afternoon by police officers when dozens of people payed tribute to him in the coffee shop, ‘Cafeteria Prado’, where he works. The hero title came after he bravely put himself between riot police and protesters that sought for refuge in the coffee shop on the #S25 demonstration last Tuesday. Alberto regrets having supported a government “capable of treating its citizens in such a way”.

VIDEO CURRENTLY UNDER HEAVY CENSORSHIP

Alberto Casillas, the waiter of the the ‘Prado’ coffee shop, known as the ‘Hero of Prado’, had to receive hospital treatment after he was assaulted by the police. According to witnesses, the police officer punched Alberto in the stomach after he demanded the badge numbers of the officers that were identifying the same people he was protecting.

The waiter, now a symbol of braveness and determination for his actions during the ‘Surround the Congress’ demonstrations, receives dozens of visits from people wishing to honor him and thank him for his exemplary actions. In the afternoon of the 29th there was literally hundreds of people paying tribute to him. This didn’t come down too well with the police as they appeared to think that was suitable to demand identification from each of these people. This raises the question of, how useful or relevant can such information be to the state?

At this stage, Alberto thought more than reasonable to demand from the police officers their identification too which one the officers replied with a punch to the stomach. As a result of this assault, Alberto felt unwell and had to receive medical assistance. Complaints are to be lodged against the police.

"I am Alberto Casillas, today I am not able to serve you as I am at a 'Telecinco' TV program but my heart and my moral support are with you. 'You are the true heros'
